Guess-the-Guest Contest Clue!

Guess-the-Guest Contest Includes Visual Clue!

Guessing the guest has become a popular pre-event contest for patrons of the Port Townsend Film Festival. Each year, the annual ritual begins the countdown to various program announcements by offering clues to the identity of the film fest’s special guest. Those who guess correctly are placed in a pool from which a winner is drawn and rewarded with two (2) tickets to the guest’s special screening and a personal introduction to the guest during a reception at the festival.

Three clues will be offered. New this year will be a visual as well as a written clue.

Entries may be submitted in three ways:

Online - info@ptfilmfest.com, type “Guess-the-Guest” in the subject line.
Mail - P.O. Box 594, Port Townsend, WA 98368.
In person - 211 Taylor St., Ste 32-A (third floor), Port Townsend, WA.

Clues will be posted on the festival’s website www.ptfilmfest.com <http://www.ptfilmfest.com>, and will be submitted to the Port Townsend Leader and the Peninsula Daily News, the final two appearing on July 16 and 23, 2008. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, July 30.

Previous guests have included Tony Curtis (2000), Eva Marie Saint (2001), Patricia Neal (2002), Shirley Knight (2003), Jane Powell (2004), Debra Winger (2005), Malcolm McDowell (2006), and Elliott Gould (2007). Each is celebrated by the screening of one of their more noted films, followed by an interview and question-and-answer session.

West Coast Live To Broadcast from Seattle July 19

West Coast Live, the National Public Radio weekly interview and music program hosted by Sedge Thomson, will make its fourth live broadcast from the 9th annual Port Townsend Film Festival on Saturday, September 27.

Prior to their Port Townsend broadcast, the radio group will broadcast live from Seattle on Saturday, July 19. Appearing at Town Hall, 1119 8th Ave., (at Seneca) on First Hill across I-5 at the eastern edge of downtown, the program broadcasts from 10 am to noon.

Billing themselves as “two hours of slow-food organic radio with only the freshest conversation, music and play,” the program has book the following guests: Eoin Colfer, hilarious author of the Artemis Fowl series, David Guterson, author of Snow Falling on Cedars and his new novel, The Other, Vibraphone master Hawk Arps, Spoonshine, and piano man Joshua Raoul Brody, “whose encyclopedic musical mind trumps wikipedia, perhaps...”

Tickets are available online at www.ticketweb.com at $15 for general seating, $13 for seniors and $5 for children Tickets for $18 will also be available at the door which opens at 9:30 am.

PTFF Volunteers needed

VolunteersAs with most community-based events, the Port Townsend Film Festival would not be possible without the impressive effort and dedication of volunteers. Each year between 250 and 300 movie buffs assist in the organization, set-up, operations, and and post-festival activities. The total hours given

For 2008, we need volunteers for poster distribution, data entry, editing, staffing of fair booths, office work, pass and ticket sales, carpentry, crowd management, decoration, escorting filmmakers, merchandise sales, photography and videography, ushers, ticket taking, crowd control, and essential grunt work.

One specific job, presently unfilled because our stalwart volunteer is attending her son’s wedding this year, is a computer graphics sign maker, who creates the informational and directional signs used throughout the festival.
